Will Travis Fimmel (Ragnar) Leave ‘Vikings’ After ‘Warcraft?’

Travis Fimmel is our kind of guy – not only does he play King Ragnar in Vikings, he’s also the lead actor in the movie Warcraft based on the epic gaming franchise. When he leaves the show, which is becoming an ever more distinct possibility, we’ll definitely miss him.

What’ll happen to Ragnar?

Ragnar’s death isn’t a solid certainty quite yet, but series creator Michael Hirst has done nothing to quell rumors, saying that not only is Ragnar, but so sick that he’s hovering between life and death. He admits, however, that Fimmel’s charisma and popularity with fans will be a tough act to follow.

“It’s very important to note that he’s not only sick; he’s hovering between life and death…It will be devastating for audiences to witness the death of a great character and the end of a magnificent role…Travis has been absolutely charismatic and magnificent. But by that stage, his sons will be young, hot guys and hopefully the audience will already be engaged with them and want to follow them.” – Michael Hirst, Vikings showrunner

It’s rumored that Ragnar’s illness will finally take him at the end of Season 4 and either Bjorn or Rollo will likely take his place, which means Fimmel will be moving on to other projects that we hope are equally as badass as his other work.
