California Sunshine in a Bottle from Golden Coast Meadery
Where can you find a mead series that includes Viking Tears, Demon Tears, and Unicorn Tears? Nowhere else but from Southern California’s own Golden Coast Meadery. From their game nights every Thursday to their enthusiastic mead classes, it’s obvious these guys and gals are loving every minute, and it’s inspiring to see folks having so much fun while making some serious mead.

They’re heavily involved in their local beekeeping community and are working hard to spread the love of mead throughout San Diego with classes and frequent tastings of classic favorites like sour orange and the as well as the happy accident that became Savage Bois, a rich and balanced mead made with California wild flower honey and French oak. While you can find their mead at outlets throughout San Diego, their Julian and Oceanside tasting rooms are where you’ll find the wilder flavors like Pucker Punch.
GCM, had me at “San Diego style mead,” since San Diego anything sounds pretty good right about now. The meads are light bodied, refreshing and invigorating, and made from the wild flavors of California – as they say, it’s “California sunshine in a bottle.” The crew at the Golden Coast emulates the bees they love so much – building a hive, supporting the community, and making an exceptional product.
